国 名：美利坚合众国
Official Name: The United States of America
国 旗：为星条旗。由７条红色、６条白色共１３道宽条组成。靠旗杆一侧的蓝色长方形中５０颗白色五角星分９排横列。１３道宽条象征美国最初的１３个州。五角星数目则与合众国的州数一致。红色象征强大和勇气，白色象征纯洁和清白，蓝色象征警惕、坚忍不拔和正义。每年６月１４日为“美国国旗制定纪念日”。
国 徽：盾面上的颜色和条纹与国旗寓意相同。白头鹰是力量、勇气、自由和不朽的象征。顶冠中镶着象征美国最初１３个州的１３颗五角星。鹰爪抓着橄榄枝和箭，象征和平和武力。鹰嘴叼着的绶带上用拉丁文写着“合众为一”。

宪 法：１７７６年７月４日制定了宪法性文件《联邦条例》。１７８７年５月制定了宪法草案，１７８９年３月第一届国会宣布生效。它是世界上第一部作为独立、统一国家的成文宪法。两个世纪以来，共制定了２６条宪法修正案。重要的修改有：１７９１年９月由国会通过的包括保证信仰、言论、出版自由和和平集会权利在内的宪法前１０条修正案，后通称“民权法案”；１８６５年和１８７０年通过的关于废除奴隶制度和承认黑人公民权利的第１３条和１５条修正案；１９２０年通过的承认妇女享有选举权的第１９条修正案；１９５１年通过的规定总统只能担任两届的第２２条修正案；１９６７年通过的规定总统如不能行使职权由副总统升任总统的第２５条修正案。宪法的主要内容是建立联邦制的国家，各州拥有较大的自主权，包括立法权；实行三权分立的政治体制，立法、行政、司法三部门鼎立，并互相制约。
自然地理：位于北美大陆。北与加拿大接壤、南靠加勒比海和墨西哥、东临大西洋、西濒太平洋。位于加拿大西北部的阿拉斯加和太平洋中部的夏威夷群岛也是美国的领土。气候复杂多样，年平均气温由佛罗里达的２９摄氏度至阿拉斯加的零下１３·３摄氏度不等。年平均降雨量差异很大，从阿肯色地区的１８３１毫米至内华达地区的１９１毫米。新墨西哥州、阿里佐纳州、内华达州、犹他州和得克萨斯的大部分地区为沙漠。
